GAA Unveils 2025 Inter-County Fixture Schedule, Highlighting Exciting Opening Matches
Ardee News and Sport –The GAA has officially published its highly anticipated Master Fixtures schedule for 2025, showcasing a packed calendar of football and hurling action. Reigning All-Ireland Football Champions Armagh and Galway will headline the opening weekend of the Allianz Football League with a thrilling Division 1 clash in Salthill on Saturday, January 25. This rematch of last year’s All-Ireland final will also debut the new rules approved at last weekend’s Special Congress.
The weekend of January 25/26 marks the start of both GAA football and hurling leagues. Division 1 Football features marquee matchups, including Tyrone versus Derry in Healy Park and Dublin against Mayo in Croke Park, both on Saturday. Kerry will host Donegal in Killarney on Sunday afternoon.
In hurling, Division 1A action kicks off with Wexford facing Cork at Chadwicks Wexford Park on Saturday evening, while Sunday sees Clare take on Kilkenny in Cusack Park and Galway meet Tipperary in Pearse Stadium.
The GAA also confirmed the dates for key championship fixtures. The GAA All-Ireland Senior Football Final is set for Sunday, July 27, while the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final will take place a week earlier, on Sunday, July 20. Other highlights include the provincial football and hurling championships starting in April and the Tailteann Cup Final scheduled for July 12.
The GAA Allianz League Football Finals are slated for March 29/30, with the Hurling League Division 1A and 1B Finals following on April 5/6.

CHAMPIONS Armagh and Galway will kick off 2025’s Allianz Football League with a repeat of their All-Ireland final showdown.
The opening weekend of fixtures, announced Thursday by the GAA, pits this year’s All-Ireland finalists against each other in the Division 1 opener in Salthill on Saturday, January 25th. The game will be played under the new rules approved last weekend by GAA’s Special Congress.
Both hurling and football leagues get underway that weekend of January 25/26. In football’s Division 1, Tyrone face Derry, Dublin play Mayo, also on the Saturday, while Kerry entertain Donegal in Killarney on Sunday, 26th. The first hurling game of the new season sees Wexford play Cork at Chadwicks Wexford Park on Saturday at 5pm.
On Sunday, Clare play Kilkenny and Galway face Tipperary in Division 1A.
The Football League Finals will take place on March 29/30 with Division Two, Three, and Four Hurling Finals also scheduled for that weekend.
The Hurling League Division 1A and 1B Finals will be on April 5/6.
The provincial football championships begin on the weekend of April 5/6, with the All-Ireland Senior Football Final slated for Sunday, July 27.
The Tailteann Cup Final will take place on Saturday, July 12.
