HSE opens 2026 student paramedic recruitment campaign

By ArdeePost Reporter

The HSE has officially launched its 2026 Student Paramedic Recruitment Campaign, offering opportunities for aspiring paramedics to train and work across Ireland.

The positions, advertised under reference NRS14980, are open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants, with successful candidates set to begin training in the National Ambulance Service (NAS) College and operational divisions nationwide.

This highly sought-after programme provides a structured pathway into one of Ireland’s most vital frontline healthcare roles. Student paramedics will undergo rigorous academic and practical training, preparing them to respond to emergency calls and provide lifesaving pre-hospital care in communities across the country.

While every effort will be made to accommodate geographically convenient postings, applicants are reminded that student paramedics may be assigned to any NAS division depending on operational requirements. Flexibility and commitment to service are essential qualities for candidates.

The HSE is encouraging interested applicants to carefully review the Job Specification, Additional Campaign Information, and Application Form, which outline eligibility, application processes, and training requirements. These documents are available on the official HSE recruitment page under campaign code NRS14980.

Applications must be submitted via email to applysupport@hse.ie with the subject line “NRS14980 Student Paramedic.” Applicants will receive an acknowledgment within two working days. If no response is received within five working days, candidates are advised to contact the NRS team to confirm receipt.

The closing date for applications is Monday, October 6, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Provisional interview dates are set for the week commencing February 9, 2026, with at least two weeks’ notice typically provided to shortlisted candidates.

The campaign is overseen by Gráinne Rooney, Campaign Lead at the HSE National Recruitment Service, with further enquiries directed to the National Ambulance Service College or University College Cork for academic programme details.

The launch of this campaign comes at a critical time for the HSE, as demand for ambulance services continues to rise nationwide. The recruitment of a new generation of student paramedics is seen as an investment in the resilience and future capacity of Ireland’s emergency medical services.
