Ireland Weather: Met Eireann Forecasts Early Summer Heatwave
Met Eireann has released an encouraging update in its extended range forecast, predicting that an early summer heatwave could begin as soon as Monday, June 24. According to the national weather service, “mean temperatures will be higher than average nationwide” from June 24 to June 30.
In this latest forecast, Met Eireann explains that Ireland will experience a predominantly south-westerly airflow between low pressure to the west and high pressure to the east. This setup will bring near-normal or below-average rainfall to the eastern half of the country, while the western regions may see slightly wetter conditions.
The forecast for Dublin from June 26 to July 2 indicates long, dry days full of sunshine with temperatures reaching up to 23°C. However, Alan Reilly from Carlow Weather advises caution, noting that while warmer weather is expected, the outlook beyond Wednesday remains uncertain with a potential return of low pressure.
Met Eireann acknowledges the reliability issues with long-range forecasts but suggests the possibility of a summer heatwave at the beginning of July. While not guaranteed, warmer weather could be on the horizon if high-pressure systems prevail.
