Ardee News and SportLittle Sprouts Garden Box Wins Three Ireland Grant for Small Businesses

Ardee, Co. Louth — Ardee’s Little Sprouts Garden Box, a local business inspiring children to embrace nature and gardening, has been named a winner of the coveted Three Ireland Grant for Small Businesses. Founded by Jessica Bourke, the company provides hands-on gardening activity kits designed to educate and engage families, nurturing a love for sustainability and the environment in young minds.

Little Sprouts Garden Box evolved from Jessica’s deep-rooted passion for gardening, cultivated by her family’s work at Dundalk Garden Centre. Inspired by her daughter Ellie, Jessica set out to create an experience that bridges fun and education. “As a parent, I know the struggle of balancing screen time with meaningful activities. With Little Sprouts Garden Box, I wanted to create something both educational and fun that parents and kids can do together,” Jessica explained.

The kits, crafted for children aged 3 and older, include organic seeds, peat-free compost, kid-friendly tools, and step-by-step instructions. They also feature recipes and activities to help children connect with nature while learning essential skills like responsibility, patience, and STEM concepts.

Winning the Three Ireland Grant for Small Businesses—a prize consisting of €5,000 in cash, €5,000 worth of devices and connectivity solutions, and expert mentoring—will allow Little Sprouts Garden Box to expand its offerings and introduce even more eco-friendly materials. “This grant will enable us to spread the joy of gardening to more families across Ireland, helping them connect with nature in a meaningful way,” Jessica said.

The Three Ireland Grant for Small Businesses, now in its fourth year, has provided over €650,000 in funding, devices, services, and support to Irish SMEs since 2021. This year’s winners, selected from an exceptional pool of applicants, include businesses across various sectors, such as healthcare, sustainability, and education.

Padraig Sheerin, Head of SME at Three Ireland, praised this year’s winners, saying: “The calibre of the competition this year has been exceptional. We are delighted to award Little Sprouts Garden Box this prize and look forward to seeing Jessica and her team achieve continued success.”

Sonya Lennon, entrepreneur and programme judge, added, “It’s inspiring to witness businesses like Little Sprouts Garden Box, which have both creative vision and a passion for change. The support provided by this programme can truly transform their journey.”
