Ardee resident and Louth Rose Justine McGuirk is set to shine on the Rose of Tralee stage tonight, with her appearance on RTÉ 1 scheduled just after the 9 o’clock news. The 27-year-old Drogheda native, who is proudly representing all of County Louth, has been enjoying the Rose of Tralee tour of Ireland and is now in Tralee, ready for the two-night televised event on Monday and Tuesday.

Among those showing their support are Justine’s proud parents, Catherine and Joe, along with a delegation from her Drogheda-based choir, Voices of the Boyne. The group made the journey to Tralee armed with flags and banners, and their enthusiastic support has been evident throughout the weekend. Watch parties are planned across her hometown and beyond, ensuring a strong show of support from Louth.

Justine, a Dundalk Institute of Technology graduate with a Bachelor’s (Hons) in Health and Physical Activity, discovered her passion for working with people with disabilities during her studies. She now works as a day service supervisor, advocating for the rights and capabilities of those she supports. “I’m lucky to work in a role where I help find meaningful activities for those in my care,” she shares.

In addition to her advocacy work, Justine is a proud member of the Voices of the Boyne Choir, a group that showcases the talents of women across County Louth. She enjoys listening to and dancing to country music, taking walks, and embracing new experiences.

Reflecting on her journey, Justine expresses her gratitude for the opportunity to represent Louth at this year’s festival. “Being selected as the Louth Rose has already been the experience of a lifetime, and I’m so thankful for all the love and support I’ve received,” she says. “I’m incredibly excited to continue this journey and embrace all the magic that’s yet to come.”

Justine’s positive outlook on life is encapsulated in her motto, “Everything happens for a reason!”

Fans will have another chance to hear Justine sing with her choir at a special concert titled ‘Songs at Summer’s End’ in the Augustinian Church on Sunday, August 31, at 5pm. Tickets are €15 and are available on Eventbrite.

The Rose of Tralee airs on RTÉ 1 tonight and tomorrow night (August 19 and 20), with Justine’s performance set for just after the 9 o’clock news tonight.
