Louth Volunteers Honoured on Heartwarming Voluntine’s Day 2025
Ardee News and Sport – Louth Volunteers Honoured on Heartwarming Voluntine’s Day 2025
Louth Volunteer Centre is celebrating the resounding success of Voluntine’s Day 2025, an initiative dedicated to recognising the incredible efforts of volunteers across the county. On February 14th, the Centre’s Rachel Christmas and Kayleigh Mulligan traveled from Drogheda to Dundalk—stopping in Dunleer, Ardee, and Carlingford—to surprise dedicated volunteers with treats and heartfelt thanks.

“It was great to see volunteers being appreciated and valued for their hard work and commitment during the year, and how it brightened up their day,” said Rachel Christmas of Louth Volunteer Centre.
The event saw volunteers from various organisations honoured, including those supporting community groups, sports clubs, charities, and emergency services. Some of this year’s nominees included Bob Timmermans (Friends of Bully’s Acre), Anne Murphy, Dennis Moran, and Margaret Hogan (Alone), Emma Lynch (Lannleire GFC), Grainne Norton (Autism Rocks Arch Club), Joseph Cowley (Square Utd), Laura Mulligan (Drogheda and District AC Club), and many more.
Dundalk FM’s Kieran McAuliffe joined the celebrations, capturing touching moments as volunteers were surprised in action. “It was great to go out with Kayleigh on Friday for the Voluntine’s Day celebration,” Kieran shared. “The thing that stood out to me was that each volunteer was hard at work when we arrived—whether in a Vision Ireland shop, preparing activities for Autism Rocks Arch Club, or getting ready for a day with the Order of Malta Ambulance Service.”
Voluntine’s Day has become a cherished tradition, shining a spotlight on the selfless individuals who make a difference in Louth communities. Louth Volunteer Centre encourages anyone interested in volunteering to get involved.
