Ardee News and Sport – A significant development has occurred in the investigation of Kyran Durnin, the young boy who vanished in the summer of 2022 and is now presumed murdered. A man has been arrested on suspicion of Kyran’s murder and is being detained at a Garda station in the North East.

Investigating officers have also commenced searches at two houses in Drogheda. Gardaí have stated that the purpose of these searches is to uncover any evidence that may shed light on Kyran’s current whereabouts or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and presumed murder.

This arrest follows the detention and subsequent release without charge of a 24-year-old woman who had been questioned about the case earlier this week.

Ongoing Investigation

Kyran, who would now be eight years old, was last seen in the early summer of 2022. The investigation, based at Drogheda Garda Station, began in August of that year when the boy was reported missing. In October, searches were carried out at his former family home on Castletown Road in Dundalk, including the garden and nearby waste ground, as part of the inquiry.

Despite these efforts, gardaí remain uncertain about when Kyran was killed and have yet to locate his remains.

Irish Times Crime and Security Editor Conor Lally has highlighted the complexity of the case, describing it as “a long and painstaking inquiry.” He noted that while the woman’s recent detention raised hopes of a breakthrough, her unexpected return to Ireland and subsequent questioning did not yield new significant leads.

Public Appeal

An Garda Síochána is continuing to appeal to the public for information, stressing that no detail is too small. Anyone with information on Kyran’s disappearance or murder is urged to contact Drogheda Garda Station at 041 987 4200, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or speak with any member of An Garda Síochána.

The investigation remains active, with officers pursuing every possible lead to uncover the truth behind Kyran’s tragic disappearance.
