Sports clubs across the County are being encouraged to nominate their standout volunteer for the 2024 Sports Club Volunteer of the Year Awards. The Local Sports Partnership has launched its second annual awards to celebrate the unsung heroes who dedicate their time to providing sporting opportunities within their local communities.

Following the success of the inaugural 2023 event, which honoured volunteers from 103 clubs, this year’s awards aim to shine a light on even more individuals who make a significant impact. These volunteers are the backbone of sporting life—coaching teams, preparing pitches, organising events, and ensuring that sports and physical activities are accessible to all.

With over 450,000 people volunteering weekly across Ireland, this awards ceremony is a chance to recognise the invaluable contributions that often go unnoticed. The ceremony will take place on Monday, November 11th, 2024, at the Carrickdale Hotel, where one volunteer from every sports club in Louth will be celebrated for their dedication.

Louth Local Sports Partnership encourages all clubs, regardless of the sport, to submit nominations and highlight the hard work of their volunteers.

To nominate your club’s volunteer, request an application form by emailing Local Sports Partnership at Louthlsp@louthcoco.ie. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, at 5pm. Don’t miss this chance to honour those who make local sports possible!

Louth Local Sports Partnership, formally launched on 16th June 2008, is in place to provide support to sport and active recreation at local level in the Louth area. The key aims of the local sports partnerships are to increase participation in sport and physical recreation and ensure that local resources are used to best effect.

In Louth we are blessed with a wide and diverse range of national recreational spaces, sporting infrastructure and physical activity opportunities, that are at the disposal of potential participants across all sections of our society.

Louth LSP support sustainable participation in sport and physical activity in County Louth for everyone. We do this by working with individuals, communities and agencies to identify the participation sports needs of the county and we then work with others to realise the programmes and events which respond to these needs.
