Public Urged to Join Ardee Consultation on Play, Sport and Recreation

A major public consultation event will take place at Ardee Parish Centre on Monday, September 1st, giving local people the chance to shape the future of play, sport, and recreation facilities in the county.

The consultation, organised by Louth County Council, will focus on three key strategies currently being developed: a Play Policy, an Outdoor Recreation Policy, and a Sports Plan.

Council officials say the policies are intended to support people of all ages – from children through to older adults – by improving opportunities for play, fitness, and active lifestyles across Louth.

Local Voices Needed

Community leaders are calling for strong participation from Ardee and Mid-Louth residents to ensure their needs and priorities are fully represented.

“This is a real opportunity for local voices to be heard,” said one campaigner. “If we want better facilities for our children, improved sports spaces for young people, or accessible recreation areas for adults and seniors, then we need to show up and share our views.”

Why It Matters

Louth County Council says the new policies will provide a long-term vision for healthier communities and stronger recreation infrastructure.

“This is not just about sports clubs,” a spokesperson explained. “It’s about play spaces, outdoor recreation, inclusive opportunities, and making sure every community has access to the facilities they need to live active, healthy lives.”
