Ardee News and Sport — Minister of State for Sport, Thomas Byrne, has announced over €6.7 million in funding for Louth sports clubs and facilities—the largest ever allocation under the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme and Community Sports Facilities Fund.

This record-breaking announcement is part of a €250 million national package to improve local sports infrastructure. Clubs across Louth, including Ardee Celtic FC, Hunterstown Rovers GFC, and Dundalk Town FC, will benefit from essential upgrades like new pitches, floodlights, and accessibility improvements.

Minister Byrne, who also announced €12.3 million for sports in Meath, expressed pride in the substantial support for local communities, saying, “I’m delighted to see such significant funding coming into Louth. This will have a lasting impact on clubs and the broader community.”

Ardee Mid Louth Councillor Dolores Minogue shared her excitement with the Ardee Post regarding the substantial funding awarded to local clubs: “I’m thrilled to see such a significant investment coming into Ardee through the capital grant. As a local representative, I want to congratulate all the clubs that have secured this much-needed support. This funding will be crucial in upgrading facilities, enhancing equipment, and carrying out important improvements that will benefit both members and the wider community. I commend the dedication and effort of each club and look forward to seeing the positive impact this funding will have.”
