Search Resumes at Drogheda Property in Ongoing Investigation into Missing Kyran Durnin
Ardee News and Sport – Search Resumes at Drogheda Property in Ongoing Investigation into Missing Kyran Durnin
A search at a house in Drogheda as part of the ongoing investigation into missing schoolboy Kyran Durnin has resumed this morning.
Kyran, who would now be eight years old, was reported missing in August 2023. Following months of extensive inquiries, Gardaí announced in October that they had found no evidence that he is alive, leading to the launch of a murder investigation.
Authorities believe Kyran was killed over two years ago and that Tusla, the child and family agency, was misled into believing he was still alive during a meeting.
Ongoing Searches
A search was previously conducted at Kyran’s family home in Dundalk, as well as two other properties in Drogheda. Gardaí have stressed that the current tenants of the Dundalk house are not connected in any way with Kyran or his disappearance.
Yesterday morning, Gardaí began technical and forensic examinations at a house in Drogheda, stating that the search aims “to discover any evidence which might provide us with information as to Kyran’s current whereabouts or what has happened to Kyran.”
The search was stood down last night and resumed at first light this morning.
Appeal for Information & Public Misinformation
Gardaí have also addressed widespread speculation regarding the case, cautioning against misinformation and unfounded theories.
“Such ill-informed public commentary is not only disruptive to the Garda investigation but also adds to the trauma experienced by victims’ families,” they stated.
Authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that may assist the investigation.
“Do not assume that the investigation team knows the information that you may have. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed and treated in the strictest confidence,” Gardaí added.
