Students from Ardee Community School reach Junk Kouture finals
Students from Ardee Community School have earned praise across County Louth after progressing to the next stage of the prestigious Junk Kouture competition.
Ardee Community School students have been celebrating success after two Transition Year teams proudly represented their school at the Junk Kouture Regional Finals held at The Helix on Wednesday, March 11.
Both teams impressed the audience and judges with their imaginative and environmentally conscious designs, showcasing creativity, teamwork and a strong commitment to sustainable fashion.
Their achievements have brought pride not only to the school but also to the wider community in County Louth.
Blaith Caillte Kouture reaches national finals
A special congratulations goes to the team behind Blaith Caillte Kouture, designed by Sophie Hickey, Éabha Caffrey and Sinéad O’Brien.
Their stunning fire-lily inspired dress, created mainly from vegetable netting and fertiliser bags, impressed the judges and has officially secured a place in the Junk Kouture Dublin City national finals, which will take place in May.
The design highlights the power of recycling and the potential of the circular economy, transforming everyday materials that would normally be discarded into a striking fashion piece.
Advancing to the national stage is a remarkable achievement and places the Ardee students among the top young designers in the competition.

Jelly-Chic Kouture still in the running
Another impressive entry from the school was Jelly-Chic Kouture, designed by Tess Reaburn, Niamh Boylan and Mia-Skye Martin.
Their creative design, inspired by the flowing shape of a jellyfish, was met with huge admiration from both the audience and judges during the regional finals.
While the design did not immediately secure a place in the Dublin finals, the team still has a chance to progress.
As part of the competition, **Eurospar has partnered with Junk Kouture to award three additional “Golden Tickets” to designs from the regional finals, giving them another opportunity to reach the national stage.
Supporters are being encouraged to help the team by engaging with their latest post on Instagram @jellychic.kouture, tagging @junkkouture and @eurospar_ireland, and sharing the post to help boost their chances.
Creativity and sustainability on display
The Junk Kouture competition challenges secondary school students to create high-fashion outfits using recycled or repurposed materials.
Participants spend months developing their designs, turning waste items into unique fashion statements while highlighting environmental awareness.
Both Ardee Community School teams demonstrated remarkable dedication and creativity throughout the process, working tirelessly to bring their ideas to life.
Pride for Ardee and Louth
Teachers, students and families have praised the hard work and determination shown by all the participants.
Representing their school on such a prestigious stage is a major achievement, and the performances in Dublin have brought great pride to Ardee and the wider Louth community.
With one team already heading to the national finals and another still in with a chance through the Golden Ticket vote, the excitement is far from over.
Supporters across Louth will now be cheering on the talented young designers as they continue their Junk Kouture journey.
