20 Pipe Bombs and €190k Worth of Cannabis Seized in Ardee Garda Operation
Ardee, Co Louth – Gardaí have seized €190,000 worth of cannabis and 20 pipe bombs during a major intelligence-led search operation in the Ferdia Park area of Ardee.
The operation, which was linked to ongoing investigations into drug trafficking, led to the discovery of the explosive devices and a significant quantity of cannabis.
During the search, 20 pipe bombs were uncovered, prompting the immediate establishment of a security cordon around the area. The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was called to the scene to assess and handle the dangerous materials.
The EOD team successfully examined and rendered all 20 devices safe before removing them for further forensic examination. Once the area was deemed secure, the cordon was lifted.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the operation forms part of broader efforts to target serious and organised crime in the region.
No arrests have been reported at this time.
