Devlin Shuffles the Pack as Louth Gear Up for Wexford Challenge

Leinster SFC Quarter-Final | Sunday, 2.30pm

Louth v Wexford
Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow
Louth manager Gavin Devlin has named an experimental and injury-boosted side to face Wexford this Sunday in the Leinster Senior Football Championship quarter-final.

The selection sees several significant changes from the side that faced Kildare in the final round of the National League in March. With several key players returning from the treatment table, Devlin has opted for a mix of defensive solidity and renewed attacking options for the trip to Carlow.

Key Returns and Positional Shifts

The most notable inclusion is Conor Grimes, who returns to the half-forward line after missing the tail-end of the league campaign. He joins Paul Mathews and captain Sam Mulroy in a formidable middle third.

In defense, Dermot Campbell has been cleared to play after recovering from the injury sustained in Newbridge. He is joined in the full-back line by Donal McKenny and Daire Nally. Emmett Carolan shifts from the corner to the pivotal centre-half back position, flanked by Conall McKeever and Tadhg McDonnell.

In the middle of the park, Dara McDonnell makes the move from defense to partner Conor Early, with the experienced Tommy Durnin named among the substitutes.

The full-forward line remains the only unchanged unit, with Keenan, McCaul, and McArdle retained as the primary attacking threats.

Reinforcements on the Bench

Perhaps the most encouraging news for Louth supporters is the strength of the bench. Ryan Burns, Ciarán Downey, Craig Lennon, and Padraic Tinnelly all return from injury to provide Devlin with explosive options in the second half.

Additionally, a standby list has been named, including Ciaran Byrne and Liam Jackson, who haven’t featured since the O’Byrne Cup in January, alongside the returning Tom Jackson.
