NW200: Qualifying to Replace Evening Races Following Tragic Incident
Following the tragic loss of a competitor during this morning’s qualifying session, organisers of the 2026 Briggs Equipment North West 200 have issued a revised schedule for Thursday evening.
The decision comes after a fatal incident at Station Corner earlier today. In accordance with the wishes of the rider’s family, the event will continue, however, the three competitive races originally scheduled for this evening will no longer take place. Instead, they will be replaced by four qualifying sessions to ensure all classes have adequate track time following the morning’s disruptions.
Revised Thursday Evening Schedule
Roads close as planned at 4:45 PM
Roads on the North Coast are currently open but will close again at 4:45 PM to facilitate these sessions. For those following the action from Ardee and across Louth, these changes mark a somber atmosphere at the Triangle circuit.
Organisers, the Coleraine and District Motor Club, have reiterated their sincere condolences to the family and team of the deceased rider. At this time, the identity of the competitor has not been released at the request of his family.
