Ardee saw a decrease in recorded crime across most offence categories last year, according to the latest Recorded Crime Q4 2025 figures released by the Central Statistics Office.
The figures, which relate to incidents recorded at Ardee Garda Station, show notable reductions in several categories including drug offences, road traffic offences and assault-related incidents.
Ardee Drug and traffic offences fall
The number of controlled drug offences recorded in Ardee fell significantly in 2025. There were 18 incidents recorded, compared to 29 in 2024, representing a 37.9% decrease.
There was also a drop in road and traffic offences, with 70 incidents recorded in 2025, down from 89 in 2024, a decrease of 21.4%.
Assault and serious offence categories also down
There was a slight fall in the number of incidents involving attempts or threats to murder, assaults, harassment and related offences, with 45 incidents recorded in 2025, down from 52 in 2024, representing a 13.5% decrease.
Other categories that saw reductions included:
- Weapons and explosives offences – down from 5 to 4 incidents
- Robbery, extortion and hijacking offences – down from 6 to 3 incidents
- Kidnapping and related offences – down from 3 to 1 incident
These figures indicate an overall downward trend in several serious crime categories in the Ardee area.
Burglaries and public order offences increase
However, the figures also show increases in some offence categories.
Burglary and related offences increased from 29 incidents in 2024 to 42 in 2025, representing a 44.8% rise.
There was also a significant increase in public order and other social code offences, which rose from 40 incidents in 2024 to 63 in 2025, an increase of 57.5%.
In addition, dangerous or negligent acts increased by 17.7%, with 60 incidents recorded in 2025, compared to 51 in 2024.
Theft and other offences remain steady
Some categories saw very little change year-on-year.
Theft and related offences remained relatively stable, with 58 incidents recorded in 2025, compared to 57 in 2024, and 66 in 2023.
Similarly, offences against government, justice procedures and organisation of crime remained steady, with 13 incidents recorded in 2025, compared to 12 in 2024 and 14 in 2023.
Overall picture for Ardee
Overall, the latest CSO figures show that Ardee experienced a fall in many crime categories in 2025, particularly in drug offences, traffic offences and assault-related incidents.
However, the rise in burglaries and public order incidents shows that Gardaí and the community will still need to remain vigilant in certain areas.
The figures provide an important snapshot of crime trends in Ardee and will be closely monitored going forward to see whether these trends continue into 2026.
