Armoy Road Races to Draw Over 10,000 Visitors

The iconic Armoy Road Races, along with the Bayview Hotel Race of Legends, are set to take place in the village of Armoy, County Antrim, from Friday, July 26th to Saturday, July 27th, expecting to attract over 10,000 fans from around the globe.

This year’s event will feature top-tier road racing competitors such as Davey Todd, Jamie Coward, Derek Shiels, Michael Sweeney, and Mike Browne. Also racing will be Dominic Herbertson, Paul Jordan, and Sam West, all fresh from the Isle of Man TT.

William Munnis, Chairman of the Armoy Motorcycle Road Racing Club and Clerk of Course, highlighted the event’s growth since its 2009 inception:

“We’re incredibly proud that the Armoy Road Races has evolved over the last 15 years into one of the must-attend events on the Irish road racing calendar. Fans from Europe, Australia, the United States, and beyond make their way here, and with this year’s lineup, we expect a fantastic turnout.”

Trevor Kane, title sponsor of the Race of Legends and owner of the Bayview Hotel in Portballintrae, emphasized the economic benefits:

“Events like the Armoy Road Races are essential for the local economy. They not only highlight Northern Ireland’s rich road racing heritage and stunning landscapes but also bring significant economic uplift by drawing thousands of visitors annually. Our staff at the Bayview Hotel are preparing to welcome global visitors for an action-packed weekend of racing.”

Kane also stressed the importance of community support:

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported the Bayview Hotel over the years. It’s crucial that we continue to support the races in any way we can, including purchasing programme packages. The dedication of the Club and its volunteers is commendable, and as local businesses and fans, we must do our part to support this fantastic sport and these exceptionally well-run road races.”

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Ciarán McQuillan, expressed the council’s support:

“Over the last 15 years, the Armoy Road Races have become a must-see event. We’re proud to support it as it boosts our local economy and showcases what our Borough has to offer. The North Coast is synonymous with road racing, having produced some of the world’s greatest riders. We hope visitors have a safe and enjoyable weekend and experience our renowned hospitality.”

Supported by the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, the Armoy Road Races will take place on July 26th and 27th, culminating in the prestigious Bayview Hotel Race of Legends. Programme packages, which include a parking pass and a limited-edition lanyard, are available on the event’s website.

Race Week runs from Sunday, July 21st to Saturday, July 27th, featuring various events such as a ride-out and barbecue, a classic car display, and a classic bike display.
