Dundalk earn point at Dalymount Park

Dundalk produced a strong performance to earn a 1-1 draw against Bohemians FC at Dalymount Park, with Gbemi Arubi scoring the equaliser in the second half.

Bohemians had taken the lead in the first half through Patrick Hickey, who headed home from a well-worked set piece. Dundalk, however, responded well and created several chances before eventually equalising in the 59th minute.

A deep diagonal ball caused problems in the Bohemians defence and Arubi rose highest to head home after the Bohs goalkeeper failed to deal with the cross.

Dundalk pushed hard for a winner afterwards, with Arubi going close again and Eoin Kenny also testing the Bohemians defence, but the sides ultimately had to settle for a point each.

Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrímsson was in attendance at the match and witnessed an entertaining end-to-end contest.

The result continues Dundalk’s strong run of form, with the Lilywhites losing just once in their last seven games as they continue to settle back into the Premier Division.

Meanwhile, Drogheda United produced a superb comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Derry City at the Brandywell Stadium.

Derry City had taken control of the game early on, with Michael Duffy scoring after 10 minutes before Darragh Markey doubled their lead shortly after half-time.

However, Drogheda fought back in dramatic fashion with two excellent goals in quick succession just after the hour mark.

Mark Doyle got Drogheda back into the game with a powerful strike from distance before substitute Warren Davis produced a brilliant finish, cutting inside and curling the ball into the far corner to level the match.

Derry pushed for a winner late on but Drogheda defended well in the closing stages to secure a valuable away point.
