Dundalk IT Welcomes New Student Union Team for 2024/2025 Academic Year

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) is excited to announce the new Student Union team for the 2024/2025 academic year. Leading the team as President is Holly Lamb-Sally, a familiar face who previously served as Vice-President for Welfare and Equality. Holly, a graduate of Dundalk IT Health and Physical Activity course, is thrilled to step into her new role and continue advocating for students on both institutional and national levels.

“I loved being on the Student Union Team last year, but I felt that I had more to offer the student body,” Holly said. “I’m delighted to represent Dundalk IT students as their President this year. My goal is to ensure that all student needs are met, no matter how large or small, and to always have their best interests at heart.”

Holly will be supported by Tobi Bewaji and Gerry O’Brien. Tobi, who has recently completed her BA (Hons) in Audio and Music Production, will take on the role of Vice-President of Welfare and Equality. Her focus will be on diversity, inclusion, and supporting students’ financial, mental, and sexual health needs, while also enhancing the events and campaigns offered by the Union.

“I want to promote inclusion and equality by being the voice for all students, including minorities,” Tobi said. “This year, I will work on student wellbeing and create a safe space where students can thrive both academically and socially.”

Gerry O’Brien, the new Vice-President for Student Engagement, is a mature student who completed his BA (Hons) in Sports, Exercise & Enterprise. Gerry will focus on engaging students both academically and socially, and will also represent the student voice on the academic council.

“My goal is to maximise student engagement and focus particularly on mature students and apprentices,” Gerry said. “We want to ensure all students have their voices heard and are actively involved in their academic and social experiences.”

Holly Lamb-Sally added, “We have a fantastic team this year, and I’m really looking forward to working with Tobi and Gerry. We aim to continue the excellent work done by previous Student Union bodies and support every student at DkIT.”

The Student Union at DkIT plays a crucial role in supporting the student voice, organizing events, and providing assistance on various issues ranging from accommodation to mental health. The DkIT community extends their best wishes to the new team and looks forward to a successful year ahead.
