Man Arrested Following Discovery of Suspected Explosive Device in Louth
A man has been arrested by detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit after a suspected improvised explosive device was discovered in County Louth.
The PSNI, working alongside An Garda Síochána, conducted a search in the Ravensdale area early Sunday morning.
The device was found near a property in Dromad, causing temporary traffic restrictions on the N1 southbound from J20. It has been removed for forensic examination, and investigations are ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Hamlin of the Terrorism Investigation Unit stated: “In support of An Garda Síochána, we searched a property in the Letterbreen area on Sunday morning, June 9. A 42-year-old man was arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and is currently being questioned at Musgrave Police Station. A vehicle and other items were also seized for forensic examination.”
Additional searches were conducted in the Enniskillen area, where a second vehicle was seized, and another search took place at a property in the Garrison area of Co Fermanagh.
