Three Taken to Hospital Following Collision Near Ardee

Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in N2 Collision Near Ardee

A motorcyclist in his 30s sustained serious injuries following a collision with a lorry on the N2 in County Louth last night. The incident occurred at approximately 8:50 PM at Rathory, just north of Ardee.

Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, providing immediate medical assistance to the injured motorcyclist. The casualty was subsequently transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed, but they are reported to be serious.

The collision prompted authorities to close a section of the N2 between Ardee and Carrickmacross for several hours to facilitate emergency response efforts and a thorough investigation by the Gardaí. The road closure caused significant disruption for motorists, with diversions put in place to manage the traffic. The N2 was reopened in the early hours of this morning after the scene was cleared and made safe for travel.

Local residents and commuters expressed concern over the incident, highlighting the need for increased road safety measures on this busy stretch of road. This accident underscores the importance of vigilance and caution for both drivers and motorcyclists, especially in areas with heavy traffic and large vehicles.

The Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the collision or who may have dashcam footage is asked to contact Ardee Garda Station.

Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist and his family during this difficult time. The community hopes for his swift and full recovery.
