Ardee Crash Claims Life of Man in His 80s
A man in his 80s has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the N33 in Ardee.Emergency services, including gardaí and paramedics, responded to the incident on the N33 at Cappocksgreen, just outside Ardee Town.
Emergency Services Respond
The elderly driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken from the scene by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.
Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Gardaí confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Investigation Underway
The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The results will assist investigators in determining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Meanwhile, Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene.
Local traffic diversions have been put in place while the road remains under investigation.
Garda Appeal for Witnesses
Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward as part of their investigation.
They are particularly interested in hearing from motorists who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings.
