School Transport Portal Now Open for 2026/27 School Year
Applications and payments for the Bus Éireann school transport scheme for the 2026/27 school year are now open, with families in Ardee and across Louth being reminded of the May deadline.
The school transport service is operated by Bus Éireann on behalf of the Department of Education, and families must apply and make payments through the online School Transport Portal.
Deadline for Applications and Payments
The deadline for completing applications and payments for the 2026/27 school year is Friday, May 8, 2026.
Families are being encouraged to apply early to ensure their child secures a place on school transport for the next academic year.
Ticket Prices
- Primary school students: €100 per child (family cap: €200)
- Post-primary students: €100 per child (family cap: €220)
Families also now have the option to pay school transport fees in instalments.
Who Qualifies for Free Transport
Free school transport remains available for:
- Eligible families with a medical card
- Students who qualify for the Special Educational Needs (SEN) transport scheme
