Day of Free Creativity Announced as Cruinniú na nÓg 2026 Lineup is Unveiled

Children and young people across County Louth are invited to immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of imagination as local officials confirm over 30 entirely free events for Cruinniú na nÓg 2026.

Marked nationwide for Saturday, 6th June 2026, Cruinniú na nÓg stands as Ireland’s premier day of free creativity tailored strictly for youth up to 18 years of age. Funded directly via the Creative Ireland Programme and managed on the ground by Louth County Council, the diverse schedule spans theatrical spaces, sensory zones, musical hubs, and craft workshops hitting Ardee, Dunleer, Dundalk, Drogheda, Carlingford, and Lordship.

“Initiatives such as Cruinniú na nÓg play an important role in supporting creativity, inclusion, and wellbeing across our communities. I encourage young people to take this opportunity to explore their talents and connect with others.” — Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, Cllr Seán Kelly

The 2026 itinerary brings together high-caliber artistic mentorship and interactive community spaces across key county installations:

🎭 Identity & Belonging (Drogheda Town Centre)

Led by the Loving Life Choir, a group of young singers (ages 5–17) will explore themes of belonging. The public square installation features live performances, an interactive “Belonging Wall,” and dedicated sensory-friendly rest zones.

✨ The Twilight Takeover (Droichead Arts Centre)

A youth-led showcase run in tandem with Nighttime Economy Drogheda, putting the spotlight on seven emerging talents who will perform original songwriting, singing, and spoken word pieces in a fully professional theater layout.

🌊 An Immersed Ocean Experience (Drogheda & Bettystown)

A collaborative, cross-county venture between Louth and Meath County Councils popping up at St Mary’s Parish Hall and Bettystown Library. Curated for infants from 6 months up, it offers a calming, highly tactile, ocean-inspired sensory ecosystem.

📝 Cruinniú Comics (Dundalk Branch Library)

Hosted by AAEX Teens at The Still, this relaxed, collaborative workshop guides teenagers through visual storytelling as they assemble a large-scale collective comic installation while styling original takeaway prints.

A County Bursting with Local Vibrancy

The wider celebration features hands-on clay modeling labs at the Boomerang Youth Centre, contemporary art classes at Highlanes Gallery, traditional African drumming with Grow Music inside An Táin Arts Centre, and local street spectacles. The massive push for creative education blends perfectly with recent county-wide structural highlights—ranging from the **landmark Moorehall regeneration approved in Ardee** to the **extension of 35 new home plans on Dunleer’s Main Street**.

🎟️ Secure Your Free Passes Ahead

While every single performance and workshop is 100% free of charge, operational capacities are strictly capped, and advance registration is highly mandatory across almost all venues.
