Helping Hands: Seven Louth Men’s Sheds Benefit from National Funding Round
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Dara Calleary TD, and Minister of State Jerry Buttimer TD have announced the distribution of vital supports to Men’s Sheds across County Louth.
The funding, provided via the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, was distributed through the Irish Men’s Sheds Association (IMSA). These grants, reaching up to €3,000, are specifically intended to help local sheds manage their day-to-day operational costs, including heating, electricity, and insurance.
Louth Funding Breakdown
A total of seven sheds across the Wee County were successful in their applications, which were assessed by the IMSA to ensure the support reached those in need of a “helping hand” with running costs.

A Vital Service for Local Men
Speaking on the announcement, Minister Calleary highlighted the inclusive environment these spaces provide, allowing men to share skills and connect with their communities. This sense of connection is particularly relevant as Ardee prepares for the MS Ireland Vintage Car Show (May 30th) and our own Mid-Louth Young Inventors Competition.
As we have discussed with the creative engineering of Barra Mulligan in Omeath, the ability to collaborate in a safe and comfortable environment is what allows Louth’s “great talent” to flourish. These grants ensure our local shedders can keep the lights on while they continue their important community work.
