Louth minor footballers took a major step towards a Leinster semi-final place with an impressive eight-point win over Laois in Hunterstown.

Played in Mid Louth, the game saw the reigning Leinster champions produce a strong second-half display to secure back-to-back victories in Group 1.

Kelly Leads the Way

Connell Kelly once again proved to be the standout performer, finishing with an outstanding tally of 0-8.

The son of former Louth player and manager Colin Kelly, he showed his class throughout and was central to Louth’s second-half surge.

The sides were level at 0-8 each at half-time, but Louth took control immediately after the restart with two quick points from Kelly.

From there, the hosts pulled clear, adding further scores to secure a comfortable eight-point victory.

Semi-Final Spot on the Line for Louth

The result leaves Louth well placed in Group 1, with a decisive clash against Kildare now set to determine who secures a direct route to the Leinster semi-finals.

Kildare also maintained their winning start with victory over Meath, setting up a winner-takes-all encounter in the next round.
