We’re in for a very warm few days here in **Ardee** and across Louth. From noon today, Tuesday the 23rd of June, until 9:00 AM on Friday the 26th, a Status Yellow heat warning is in effect. Forecasters expect daytime temperatures to climb above 27°C, with nights remaining uncomfortably warm, staying above 15°C.

Keeping Safe in the Sunshine

While the prospect of summer weather is always a welcome treat, Louth County Council is keen to remind us all that it brings a few risks. To make sure everyone stays healthy and avoids any unnecessary trouble, they’ve shared a few simple, common-sense tips for us all to follow.

📋 Your Safety Checklist

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water and try to avoid heavy, strenuous activity when the sun is at its hottest.
  • Be Water Wise: If you’re heading to the water, please only swim in areas where lifeguards are on duty. Keep a close eye on children at all times, avoid alcohol near the water, and always watch for safety signs.
  • Respect Our Resources: As demand for water rises with the heat, please try to use it responsibly.
  • Fire Safety: Please, do not light fires in or near forest areas. If you’re enjoying a BBQ, make sure it’s handled safely, and if you see a fire, call 999 or 112 immediately.

Beyond the heat, we should keep an eye on the sky, too. Thunderstorms are in the forecast, which can sometimes bring sudden, heavy rain and tricky road conditions. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the latest updates from Met Éireann at met.ie so you aren’t caught off guard.
