
Two Men Arrested After €1 Million Drug Seizure in Castlebellingham
Two men have been arrested after Gardaí and Revenue officers seized cannabis worth an estimated €1 million in Castlebellingham, County Louth.
The seizure was made on Wednesday, April 1st, as part of an intelligence-led operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue’s Customs Service.
During the operation, approximately 50kg of suspected cannabis was seized with an estimated street value of €1 million.
Two Men Arrested
Two men, both aged in their 40s, were arrested by Gardaí in connection with the investigation and are currently being detained at a Garda station in the North Western Region.
The arrests were made under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Investigations Ongoing
The seized drugs have now been sent for analysis by Forensic Science Ireland, and investigations are ongoing.
The seizure is one of the largest drug seizures in County Louth in recent months.
