Simple Steps to Deter Theft: Ardee to Host Free Property Marking Event for 2026 Crime Prevention Day
Louth Community Safety Partnership and An Garda Síochána are joining forces to host a free property marking event in Ardee, helping residents protect their valuables and deter local theft.
Scheduled to mark Crime Prevention Day 2026, this initiative offers a practical way for the community to secure high-value items. This follows recent data showing that while national burglary rates have dropped, Louth recorded a minor 5% decrease, making proactive measures like property marking more important than ever.

Protecting What Matters
Marking property with a unique identifier makes it far less attractive to thieves and much easier for Gardaí to return to its rightful owner. This event is particularly timely as Ardee sees continued growth, including the major regeneration approved for Moorehall and various agricultural expansions in areas like Paughanstown and Roestown.
The “great talent” of our local community is its ability to look out for one another. Much like the efforts of the Ardee Tidy Towns volunteers or the fundraising spirit of the Aclint Drama Group, taking part in Crime Prevention Day strengthens the resilience of Mid-Louth. We encourage all residents, especially those in the farming and trades sectors, to take this simple step to protect their livelihoods.
