Back to Education: FREE Part-Time Courses Announced for Ardee, Dundalk, and Drogheda
The Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) has officially released its Autumn 2026 schedule, offering a diverse range of free part-time courses designed to help local residents upskill and return to learning.
Starting this September, residents across Mid and North Louth can access QQI Level 3, 4, and 5 modules, as well as Leaving Certificate subjects. These courses provide a friendly, supportive adult learning environment with small class sizes and flexible attendance—usually just one class per week.

BTEI courses are free to those who meet one of the following criteria:

Opportunities in Ardee
For those based in the Ardee area, several key modules are starting in September at local venues, including Special Needs Assisting (QQI L5), Care of the Older Person (QQI L5), and Recovery in Mental Health. Later in the term, Work Experience and Care Support modules will also be available, providing essential pathways into the healthcare sector.
This initiative coincides with a period of massive educational growth in the region, following the recent announcement that DKIT will be renamed Dundalk University College as part of an all-island partnership. Whether you are aiming for a university degree or looking to refresh your office skills with MOS Word and Excel in Drogheda, the “great talent” in Louth is being supported at every level.
