Clúid Housing Delivers 95 New Homes in Co. Louth, Launches 2023 Annual Report: “Partnering for Progress”

Clúid Housing Launches 2023 Annual Report

Clúid Housing has announced the delivery of 95 new homes in Co. Louth as part of their 2023 efforts to address Ireland’s housing crisis. This achievement is highlighted in their newly launched annual report, “Partnering for Progress,” which details the provision of 1,085 new affordable homes nationwide, including the significant contribution in Louth.

For the second consecutive year, Clúid Housing has delivered over 1,000 new homes, emphasizing their commitment to tackling the urgent need for housing. Over half of these new homes are one- and two-bedroom social homes, the most in-demand property types in the country.

Clúid Housing, an independent, not-for-profit housing association and one of Ireland’s largest Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs), was established in 1994. The organization provides high-quality, affordable rented homes in partnership with local authorities, aiming to help those on social housing waiting lists. Clúid now owns and manages nearly 12,000 properties, housing over 30,000 people.

Brian O’Gorman, Chief Executive Officer of Clúid Housing, commented on the growing need for smaller homes: “Currently, there are more single adults on the housing list than all other household types combined. According to the Housing Agency, there were 33,746 single adults in need of social housing in 2023. The next biggest group is one adult with one or two children. There is a huge unmet need in Ireland for one- and two-bed homes, which is why we are delighted to have delivered more than 600 of these homes in 2023.”

O’Gorman praised the efforts of the Clúid team and their partners: “We’re incredibly proud of what we achieved in 2023. Thanks to the hard work of the Clúid team and all our partners, 2,194 more people are now enjoying the security and stability of a Clúid home. In Louth, we delivered 95 new homes, bringing our total homes in management here to 759.”

He added, “Our vision is a society where everyone has a great place to live, and our annual report – Partnering for Progress – illustrates how we are working to achieve this vision. In addition to delivering new homes, our teams are committed to ensuring our existing homes remain warm, comfortable, and secure through our repairs and retrofitting programs. Our Housing Officers also support our residents in both good times and difficult times.”

Looking ahead, O’Gorman highlighted Clúid’s ambitious targets: “Using a variety of methods, including our sector-leading construction programme, Clúid is on target to surpass our goal of 1,200 new social and Cost Rental homes for 2024. Already this year, we have provided more than 700 new high-quality homes.”

The achievements and future plans outlined in Clúid Housing’s annual report demonstrate their ongoing dedication to providing sustainable and affordable housing solutions, addressing Ireland’s housing crisis, and improving the lives of thousands of residents across the country.
