Thank You Louth: Thousands Rise Across the County for Darkness Into Light 2026
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the people of Ardee, Dundalk, Drogheda, and all across the Wee County who joined thousands nationwide this morning for Pieta’s Darkness Into Light 2026.
Starting at 4:15 AM as dawn broke, 177 walks took place across 18 countries, symbolising hope for those affected by suicide and self-harm. In Louth, the continued support from local communities ensures that Pieta’s vital prevention services remain available to all who need them.
📈 The Power of Your Support
Darkness Into Light is Pieta’s biggest annual fundraiser. The impact of your registrations and donations is staggering:
- In 2025: Helped manage almost 100,000 calls and texts via Pieta’s 24/7 Crisis Helpline.
- Therapy: Delivered over 40,000 hours of life-saving therapy sessions.
- Community: Provided free, nationwide support for those in crisis and those bereaved by suicide.
A Message from Pieta
Stephanie Manahan, CEO of Pieta, expressed her deep gratitude for the unwavering support shown this morning. She highlighted how every registration and every step taken in the early hours of Saturday morning helps ensure Pieta can continue providing free therapy services across Ireland.
Whether you walked with a local group from Ardee, joined the crowds in Dundalk, or completed your own individual “DIL My Way,” your contribution is invaluable.
Still Time to Donate
While the sun has risen on the 2026 event, the need for support continues. Donations can still be made online to help Pieta reach their targets for the coming year.
