Dundalk’s Seán Cotter Revealed as Winner of National Vhi Mini Marathon Medal Design

The official medal for the 2026 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon has been unveiled, highlighting the exceptional talent of Dundalk graphic designer Seán Cotter, who emerged as the unanimous winner of a prestigious national design competition.

The 2026 medal was selected following a high-profile competition run in partnership with the Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI). The panel of judges was unanimous in choosing the work of the Dundalk native, whose design will now be presented to over 25,000 participants as they cross the finish line in Dublin this June Bank Holiday Sunday.

A Rising Star in Visual Communication

Seán Cotter is a recent graduate of the Visual Communication programme at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). His victory in this national arena highlights the strength of the design education at IADT and marks a significant milestone in his early career as a professional designer.

“Designed by Seán Cotter, a graphic designer from Dundalk… the medal was selected as the unanimous winner of a national design competition.”

Dundalk Roots, National Stage

For the Wee County, Seán’s success provides a proud moment of local representation on one of Ireland’s biggest sporting and charitable stages. The Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon is the largest all-female event of its kind in the world, and having a Louth designer behind its most iconic symbol—the finisher’s medal—is a testament to the creative talent within the region.

The medal itself is more than just a prize; it is a symbol of the hard work and dedication of every woman who participates. Thanks to Seán’s vision, that accomplishment will be commemorated with a piece of world-class Irish design.

As the countdown to the June Bank Holiday begins, the Ardee Post joins the wider community in congratulating Seán on this magnificent achievement.
