€3 Million New Fire Station Planned for Dunleer in Major Louth Investment

A new €3 million fire station for Dunleer has been confirmed as part of a major funding package for fire services across Louth and Meath.

The investment forms part of a wider national capital programme worth over €320 million aimed at improving fire service infrastructure and emergency response capabilities across Ireland.

Major Investment for Louth

As part of the funding announcement, Dunleer will benefit from a brand new fire station, a significant boost for emergency services in Mid Louth and surrounding areas including Ardee.

In addition, €5 million has been allocated for works at Dundalk Fire Station, while Louth will also receive funding for a new €500,000 fire appliance to strengthen frontline services.

The new Dunleer fire station represents a major investment in emergency services for Mid Louth and surrounding communities.

National Fire Services Programme

The funding is part of a nationwide programme that will see 39 fire stations either newly built or refurbished over the next five years, at a cost of almost €180 million.

Overall, the Government’s Fire Services Capital Programme is valued at more than €328 million — the largest investment ever made in fire service infrastructure in the State.

Support for Meath Projects

In neighbouring Meath, €13 million has been allocated for the refurbishment and expansion of Navan Fire Station, while €2.8 million will be spent upgrading Oldcastle Fire Station.

Officials say the investment will improve emergency response times, enhance firefighter safety, and ensure stations are equipped to deal with modern challenges including severe weather events, wildfires and industrial incidents.

Boost for Growing Communities

The new and upgraded facilities are expected to future-proof fire services as populations continue to grow across the North East.

For communities in Mid Louth, including Dunleer and Ardee, the new station will play a key role in strengthening local emergency response and public safety.
