
Ardee & Mid Louth Local Notes – Weekly Round-Up
There has been plenty happening across Ardee and the wider Mid Louth area in recent weeks, with strong community spirit on display through local events, fundraisers, sporting activity and parish life. From impressive charity efforts to new initiatives and regular community gatherings, there is something for everyone across the region.
📍 Ardee
A series of talks has begun in Ardee Church each Monday evening at 7.30pm, offering those interested the chance to rediscover the treasures of faith and grow closer spiritually.
Ardee Rugby Club continue to lead by example with a new initiative that brings inclusion to the very heart of the organisation — a fantastic step forward for the club and community.
The Ardee Creative Writing Group welcomes new members every Friday morning from 10.30am to 12 noon at Ardee Library. Beginners and experienced writers are all welcome, and there is no cost involved.
Ardee Boxing Club is now based in the old school at Ballapousta, close to the graveyard, and new members are more than welcome to join.
Bridge classes continue every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in Ferdia House, Moorehall. Classes cater for beginners and improvers. Contact Tos McGee on 086 8059369.
The Ardee School of Music continues to provide excellent opportunities for young learners. Their Baby Musical Rascals classes are tailored for babies aged 3 months to 1 year. Contact Ruth via Facebook or on 087 2967020.

Well done to everyone at the Military History Museum at Broomfield, Collon, which continues to be a fantastic local attraction. Their recent Vietnam conflict event was both educational and engaging.
The Collon Living History Festival will take place on May 16th and 17th — a highlight for the local calendar.
Mattock Rangers are preparing for the return of camogie at underage level, with hurling also making a welcome return. New players are always welcome.
Collon Parish Choir continues to rehearse on Wednesday nights in the Church Gallery, with new members encouraged to join.
Collon Community Together are looking to establish a local cycling group for leisure weekend cycles. All abilities are welcome.
Confirmation takes place in Collon on Friday, May 1st, with First Holy Communion on May 16th.
📍 Dunleer
Well done to the team at the Valley Inn, Mullary, whose recent events raised an incredible €10,600 for Ardee & District Cancer Support.
Mosstown Graveyard Committee are seeking volunteers to assist with maintaining the cemetery. Anyone available to help is encouraged to contact the committee.
Dunleer Golf Society has announced its 2026 fixtures, including visits to several top courses and a weekend outing to Enniscorthy. The first outing is March 21st.
Lann Léire GFC draw results saw no jackpot winner, with the next jackpot now standing at €18,800.
The club’s “walk, run and chat” initiative continues every Monday evening from 6pm to 7pm.
The Active Retirement Group meets every Tuesday at 2pm in St Bridget’s Hall, welcoming new members.
The Friends of Lann Léire Fundraiser for 2026 is now underway, encouraging weekly contributions to support club development.
Monthly Tea & Chat takes place after 11.30am Mass on the first Sunday of each month.
Slimming World sessions take place every Wednesday at 5.30pm and 7pm in the Market House.
Parish preparations continue locally, with First Confessions taking place in Dromin NS and Scoil Bhride in the coming weeks.

Bingo takes place every Thursday at 7.30pm in Philipstown Hall.
A Drive-In Monster Bingo will take place on Easter Monday, April 6th at 3pm, with €10,000 in prizes.
First Confessions will take place on March 25th at 7pm.
A Baby & Toddler Playgroup is held every Wednesday from 10.30am to 12 noon in St Kevin’s Community Centre.

SVP Vincent’s Shop in Dunleer is open Saturdays from 11am to 3pm.
Tea and coffee mornings for senior citizens take place on the first Friday of each month in the Market House.
Dunleer Parish Office is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 12 noon, and Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm.
