Free Therapy for Men Project Launches in Partnership with the HSE
Starting today, July 1st, MyMind is proud to offer six free counselling or psychotherapy sessions to any man aged 18 or over in Ireland who is navigating mild to moderate mental health challenges. This initiative is made possible through HSE funding and represents a significant investment in men’s mental health.
The project, which received a special acknowledgement of gratitude toward the HSE and the Minister for Mental Health, Mary Butler T.D., is part of a €2 million additional funding package dedicated to benefiting men’s mental health.
Accessible Support for All
One of the most significant aspects of this project is its accessibility. In a move designed to remove barriers to entry, the service is available through self-referral. This means that no referral from a GP or any other medical professional is required to access the care.
📋 How to Access the Sessions
- Eligibility: The service is available to any man aged 18 or over in Ireland.
- Format: Sessions can be accessed in-person at MyMind’s 11 locations across Ireland or online via video.
- Getting Started: Registration is managed through the dedicated website at mymind.org.
- Resources: A dedicated page at mymind.org/free-therapy-for-men has been set up to help users access the sessions.
- Information: The website also features a video series providing guidance on what to expect when beginning talk therapy.
Signposting these services is encouraged to ensure those who need help can find it easily. By providing fully funded, professional support, MyMind and the HSE are working to ensure that men have the stability and resources needed to manage their mental wellbeing effectively.
