24 Schools Across Ireland to Receive Grants for Integrating Physical Activity in Education
Minister of State for Sport, Physical Education and the Gaeltacht, Thomas Byrne TD, has announced the schools chosen for a new pilot programme focused on integrating physical activity into teaching and learning. Among the 24 schools selected nationwide, two are from Louth: SN Muire Rampark and Redeemer Girls NS.

The programme, set to run throughout the 2024/2025 school year, aims to support teachers and school leaders in incorporating physical activity into educational practices. Selected projects include innovative approaches such as “STEMOLYMPICS – Racing Towards Data Discovery,” “Exploring Our Heritage, A Local History Orienteering Podcast,” and “Promoting Gymnastics through Drama and Music.”
Minister Byrne highlighted the diverse and creative ways schools plan to use physical activity to enhance learning outcomes, expressing gratitude to all participating schools and enthusiasm for the upcoming projects.
