Sandfield Gardens, Blackrock, Co. Louth / Formerly Barrack South, Belmullet, Co. Mayo
John Geraghty Snr, of Sandfield Gardens, Blackrock, Co. Louth and formerly of Barrack South, Belmullet, Co. Mayo, passed away in his 90th year on Monday, June 22nd, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Moya (née Monaghan), his parents Michael and Ann, his brothers Pat, Jimmy, and Marty, and his sisters Mary P, Annie, and Peggy, John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken family.
He is also deeply mourned by his children Michael, Noreen, and John; his daughters-in-law Mary and Kathleen; son-in-law Patrick; his adored grandchildren Mark, Michelle, Laura, Jason, Matthew, Luke, and Cuán; his great-grandchildren Cian, Sadhbh, Hallie, Cara, and Aisling; his brother Michael; his sister Kathleen Kelly; as well as his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, and all his wonderful neighbours and friends.
Funeral Details:
Reposing at his home, Sandfield Gardens (A91 NXE7), on Wednesday, June 24th, from 12:00noon to 9:00pm. (Please follow funeral signs from the Greengates and onto Main Street; traffic diversions will be in place).
Removal will take place on Thursday afternoon, June 25th, at 1:40pm on foot to St. Oliver Plunkett Church (A91 DD56), arriving for Funeral Mass at 2:00pm. (Access to the church is available via Main Street only; there is no access via the Coast Road). Burial will take place afterward in St. Fursey’s Cemetery, Haggardstown (A91 XH75).
The family home remains private on Thursday morning, please. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, if desired, to The Birches Day Care.
